This experimental typography project explores the relationship between time and typography in the fifth dimension, where time is spatial rather than linear. By simulating a clock’s hour hand movement on the Jiugongge grid, a structure used for Chinese characters, unique text shapes were created.
To examine how text might function in this dimension, a translator tool was developed. When Chinese characters are input, it generates a “type time” font based on project rules, which gradually fades, reflecting the fluid and dynamic nature of this conceptual space.
